Instead of lumping all together why dont religious people seperate the words of love/compassion/mercy from the tribal cruelty and hate that was part of evil human nature which sealed itself in holy books as the divine words of a God

The truth is that the bible, although claimed to be "Inspired by God" was written by humans, and as with all things in life they wanted you to believe in all the things they believe in and nothing else.
Example, look at the arguments that develop on here, people always try to convince people that there way is correct and when they get told it is not they then tend to get nasty and all shouty!
We still have that tribal identity where we thought our tribe was correct and all others wrong, thus they had to be destroyed!
This later grew into politics, countries etc.....
So the bible is a reflection of Human Nature rather than a Godly Nature, everything is to be controlled and thought very much controlled, if you do not believe as we do you cannot go to heaven etc....
