The Greco-Roman civilizations highly valued science, philosophy and mathematics. Their religions were highly similar, in fact most of their gods were taken from the near east. Greco-Roman governments (generally) had much more interaction with their citizens, like the Roman Republic, where as most of the near eastern powers were dictatorships. Militarily, they were night and day. The Greco-Romans favored doctrines around heavy infantry, where the near east favored light infantry and cavalry. As far as conquest, they mostly all treated it all the same, with some minor differences that aren't worth mentioning. As for culture, there are far too many differences between the various near eastern powers to state, while the Greco-Romans are called that because the Romans all but adopted Greek culture.
