How did the ancient egyptions cut granite stone?
Raina is correct the saws they used were made of copper which can be work hardened. What seems to be misunderstood is that with the use of quartz sand the grains were embedded into the copper not at all unlike the diamond cutting tools of today and it is the sand grains that did the cutting. The saws did not have teeth as one would associate with the word "saw".
