Rca CRT tv internal adjustments?
I have a 36" rca entertainment series CRT tv, which, after my journeys through the service menu, has an almost perfect picture, as compared to when I started (size, shape, colors, focus). My main reason of using the service menu was to turn down the red gun to address a color bleed. Turned red (P13) down to v4, from v38, which drastically helped. However, occasionally I still notice a small amount of red bleed, and I am almost out of "digital adjustment". I didn't want to pull the back if I didn't have to, since this tv weighs over 200 lbs
. My question is, are there pots for color intensity adjustment inside this tv, considering I can adjust R G B thru the menu? I'm just worried that as components further degrade, I will not be able to get desired results with "digital adjustments" alone. I know, I know, I need to throw this antique CRT away, and buy a 21st century tv, but why trash something if it can be fixed, that is and always will be my motto.
Readjust your Red back to V38 1st, pull the back off...you CLAIMED to have adjusted the focus, so you should know that your Overall Anti-Bleed adjustment is actually JUST BELOW the focus control on the High Voltage transformer. And if you didn't adjust that, then just look for a big long red wire on the back of your picture tube with the suction cup on the bell of the picture tube...follow it back to the high voltage transformer and you'll find 2 or maybe 3 adjustments on it...the bottom one is the screen voltage that stops/reduces bleed, you go to an unused input for a black picture, then adjust it UP until you see retrace lines appear, then back it back down to where they JUST become invisible again.
Now LOOK at your picture, and if you have to, adjust that 38 down a bit at a time.
But I'll also let you know that NO TECH would use that adjustment to get rid of bleed...that's the Bias adjustment for the red gun and SETS your blacks to the color black.
