How do I whitewash/paint an antique table & chair set made of wood?
I've seen many ways- paint, stain... sanded/non sanded-
which is the best way to get the whitewash antiqued look?
I still want some natural wood to show through.
Best way is to first strip off the old finish. Then a light sanding with 120-150 grit sandpaper just to rough-up the surface a little. Then get yourself some white latex paint. Thin it with about 10% water. Apply with a brush and wipe off excess right away, leaving enough to get the look you want. Let dry overnight and then apply 2 coats of a good quality polyurethane. I've used this method many times with excellent results! Hope this helps you!!
