My cat is a drama queen?
My cat does NOT have an uti. She is upset that we are moving (again) and on top of that she may sense that I am in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy. She is a 13 year old cat (spayed but a drama queen). What can I do to stop her from peeing on my couch, antique pillows, clothes etc. She stayed with my friend in the past and did the same thing and my friend had to return her back to me promptly .. no she did not have a uti that time either. It's a behavior thing. What can I do??
I'm giving her up.
If she's been well health checked, then the next best move is to get a behaviorist in. Your vet could give you a referral.
Failing that, since it does seem to be stress related to what's going on in your home, things you could do would include making sure things are kept as normal as possible. Making sure she has places she feels safe (places high up, and where she can hide, maybe a room that's kept the same). Make sure there's no problems with the tray (easy to forget to clean it so often when you are busy..). You can also get a product called Felliway which releases cat pheromones that are soothing (humans can't smell it). Make sure you spend some quality time with her each day, playing and/or cuddling (her choice...)
At 13 with a toileting problem most shelters will euthanize your cat as soon as she is handed over. If you can't find a shelter that can guarantee not to do this, and you really can't keep her, then the best thing may be to have her euthanized yourself. That way she is spared the trauma of being taken away from you, and you could also be there to keep her company as she gets the injection.
