I’ve been noticing that a significant portion of the cable/satellite television line up seems to be consisting of shows exalting and praising redneck culture: shows about rednecks building choppers, rednecks running tat parlors, rednecks cutting down trees, rednecks exterminating vermin, rednecks driving trucks across ice, rednecks running pawn shops, rednecks as bounty hunters, rednecks looking for antiques, rednecks catching fish, crabs and lobsters—and rednecks digging for gold—just to name a few. What’s going on here?
