Can you use any arrow head with a cross bow or are there only certain types?
My dad is thrilled to be able to use his cross bow in Michigan now and he's been talking about arrow heads that have a 4"inch cutting diameter. First off, i searched and searched for such broad heads and can not find anything close to 4". Second, when doing my research i stumbled upon the Crimson Talon® The "X" System Broad heads. I thought this looked like a nice Christmas gift. Then i thought, "can he use this kind on a cross bow?" So if anyone can answer I'd appreciate it, and if anyone knows where i can find a broad head for a cross bow that has a 4" cutting diameter please share!
Any kind of broadhead can be used with a crossbow, as long as it conforms to the regulations as stated by Michigan Law, and doesn't interfere with the launching of the bolt (aka, "crossbow arrow"). The item concerning Michigan Law applies to all hunters, the item concerning the broadhead not interfering with the launching of the bolt is just common sense.
I have looked through the Michigan DNR website, and can't find anything on broadhead width. I suggest that you do a comprehensive search of your own, or contact the Michigan DNR for full information.
