What arrows and arrow heads should I buy?
I am new to archery and bowhunting. What type of arrows should I buy for a cheap price that I can use for practice and hunting? Also, what types of heads should I get for target practice and hunting?
Thanks
I'm not so sure about price, but I can tell you to buy carbon arrows. They're not too heavy, and they won't warp.
As far as your tips, decide what grain you want to shoot. I shoot 100 grain. 80 grain would be fine. The smaller the grain, the smaller the head. If you get one too big (like, say, 125 grain) you won't be able to shoot at long distances because your arrow will be heavy.
Use what we call 'field tips' for practice shooting, and you can use one of two things for hunting: broadheads and expandables. I do not like expandables (supposedly, blades extend as soon as the tip comes in contact with the deer) because it takes such a heavy draw weight in order to shoot the arrows fast enough to make them expand. And stay away from mechanical broadheads too. I shoot Magnus Stingers. They are great. 4 fixed blades, the main blades are serrated. You have to get you hunting tips and your practice tips in the same grain or you will have major problems getting them to hit in the same place.
Since you're new to this, I want to tell you to NOT GIVE UP!!!
And, of course, have fun
