Authentic ancient Greek foods?
We have a project for school asking us to prepare a authentic ancient Greek food. I know i could google it but does any body have their favourites/sugestions? a link/recipe would be nice too!

Any basic yeast bread and soft goat's cheese would be quite adequate. A certain cheese called tiri would be especially appropriate.
I've also heard a type of French Toast had its origins in Ancient Greece -- use a modern recipe (like this, http://southernfood.about.com/od/frenchtoastrecipes/r/bl30118b.htm )as your basis but use only egg whites (Greeks didn't like the yolks for some reason), and goat's milk instead of cows milk, olive oil instead of butter, and omit any sugar or spices. Top it off with honey instead of syrup.
If you really want to annoy everyone, you could make the notoriously disgusting Spartan Black Broth: as I recall (having made it once) it's made from pork, pig blood, salt and I think a little vinegar.
Just don't use anything with sugar in it -- there was no sugar then, only honey. Also, no quickbread -- baking powder doesn't seem have been used anywhere before the 19th century. According to Toussaint-Samat's "History of Food," cinnamon wasn't common in Ancient Greek food, though it was a known spice for other purposes; same for pepper. Cow's milk was availible only during calving time; goat or sheep milk was more common. Butter was known but almost never used.
