What did the different people of the medieval time look physically like?
We all know that the vikings generally had blond hair, light complexion, and blue eyes. What about the other groups from about four centuries before Christ to about sixteen centuries after? I'm really looking for some sort of a pictorial database, but a good explanation here could work.
the times you are talking about are not so very long ago on the scale of things. People in most places would have had pretty much the same variations in appearance/colouring you see in those places today (except of course there would be virtually no ethnic groups such as blacks or Asians in places like Britain or Northern Europe.) the Romans noted when they reached Britain that the English were quite lanky and fair, the Welsh looked like Spaniards and the Scots had a lot of red hair,so those types have been around for AGES.
