Can anyone recommend a great book on Greek and Roman mythology?
I'm interested in the subject, and I've looked on Ebay a few times, and they've got some good ones, but nothing that encompasses both Greek and Roman mythology. I'm looking to buy, so if you can tell me where to find your recommendation for sale, it would be much appreciated

Edith Hamilton, *Mythology*
Joseph Campbell, *The Masks of God, Vol. 3: Occidental Mythology*
Robert Graves, *The Greek Myths* and *The White Goddess*
But consider also primary sources. Ovid's *The Metamorphoses* represented the first systematic effort to combine Roman and Greek mythology into a single text. Obviously, the "Three greco-Roman Epics"--Homer's Iliad & Odyssey & Virgil's Aeneid are all important, as is Apollonius of Rhodes' *Voyage of the Argonauts.* Probably the best book from Classical times about Greco-Roman religion as it was experienced in the lives of Hellenistic Romans--rather than just mythological tales--is Apuleius' *The Golden Ass.*
All of these books are available cheap on the Internet, because they are all relatively old at this point. When buying the primary sources, avoid any translation of Apuleius other than Jack Lindsay's, which is available through Dover Press.
