Not long ago I attended my cousin’s wedding at a Catholic Church. It was a beautiful ceremony that brought tears to my eyes, but one thing caught my eye during the nuptials that seemed kind of odd. The priest took a drink of wine out of his fancy golden cup, used a handkerchief to wipe where his mouth had touched, and then put the cup to the lips of my cousin and her groom. They both drank from the cup. My stomach turned a little.
Yeah, I know he wiped it, but how many of you do dishes like that? Warn me so I never come over for dinner at your house, OK?
Don’t they teach priests how to wash dishes properly? Where’s the hot water, soap and a sponge? Okay, maybe a priest isn't about to stand there and do dishes during mass. I get that. But as rich as the Catholic Church is, don’t you think they’d be able to afford two cups? One for the priest and one for the bridal couple, you know? I don’t want the COOTIES!
Yeah I always had a problem with that too. If by cooties, you mean herpes, then yeah this could turn into an outrageous epidemic.
