How do I melt amber resin dust to liquid ?
hi. I have a hobby (new found) carving Baltic Amber figures, after i caerve these i have alot of it left over?, it seems a waste to toss it , i burn it for the fragrant pine smell?, but I have quite alot left ..I have been trying to find out how I would melt down Amber resin dust to make one solid Baltic /Columbian Amber chunk without exspesive lab proceedures or science.. simple stove top method and degrees or what info i am missing here.if possible???... : all help , recipes or instruction is greatly appreciatied.. thank you. (ps. I 'm trying to avoid setting the kitchen on fire..

I have heard of doing this (melting the dust and pieces) then pouring it into an mold ect... it cools back into the hard clear solid piece again) for ie beads jewlery ect... can this be done? and if I added solvent?. I don't think the results would be what I'm seeking?.. ( But? I really don't know?) geeess????? help !!!
You will have to find out what the melting point of the resin is, and then heat it slowly (maybe in the top of a double boiler) until that temperature is reached.
I work with resins, and I have to warn you that some resins, in dust form, are very difficult to liquify, if not impossible.
You may want to se if there is anything that will dissolve your resin, such as a solvent of some type, and dissolve it to soften it rather than messing with heat and fumes.
