If God turned away and withdrew His Spirit from Jesus on the cross, will He abandon us?
Some people have said that Jesus said "My God, my God, why have you abandoned me" because when Jesus was on the cross, the Father either could not look on His Son or withdrew His Spirit from Jesus.
Does this mean that the Father may abandon or forsake us? Does this mean that God may withdraw His Spirit from us as well? If the Father withdraws His Spirit and forsakes His own Son, how can we be sure that He will not abandon us?
Jesus was quoting Psalm 22.
