Why is my min-pin digging huge holes in the backyard?
We leave him out during the day and he loves to dig huge holes in the grass and dirt; not only that but he loves to sit inside the holes once he's dug in about 1ft. What is up with this? Whats the best way to make him stop?
First and foremost, your dog is a ratter. That is what he was bred to do. He may smell some kind of animals in your yard.
Second, minpins are NOT yard dogs. They not only don't have the correct type of fur to be outside all day, they can also be prey to other animals, and easily be bitten by bugs. They can get sunburned, and get cold easily.
Third, your dog must be bored. Minpins are very social dogs and need to be with their owners.
Please, if you do not have the time to spend with this breed and cannot put your dog in the house during the day, surrender it to rescue so he can get a better home.
