Egyptian Pale
I was born pale, but now I am dark is this permanent?

I am Egyptian. Everyone in my family was born fairly pale including me. However, unlike the rest of my family, I loved playing outside and growing up I got a lot of sun. Now at age 16, I am very tan and the rest of my family is still fairly pale to slightly tan. I'm curious, if I take more protective measures towards the sun, such as wearing sunscreen and avoiding the sun at its peak hours, will I gradually become the same color as the rest of my family?

I am not a doctor, so I don't truly know. However, I can share my experience with you. When I was younger, I spent A LOT of time in the sun and got really, really dark. I have brown hair and brown eyes and people thought I was Indian, that is how dark I was. I stayed that way for about 4 years and tried to avoid spending long periods in the sun, and I wore sunscreen and now I am paler than ever. I am really pale now, more so than anyone in my family. Ironically, I kind of miss being dark! C'est la vie.
