How to wash a wedding dress?
For my wedding, we are eloping and trying to save money. I found a second hand dress that I love but the problem is that after 150.00 dry cleaning bill, I may as well go get the dress new. The dress is Satin and tulle- no sequins, beads, jewels, lace, or embroidery. I found some websites that say it’s okay to turn the dress inside out, wash gentle cycle, and hang to dry. Has anyone done this? How did the dress turn out?
I was thinking of hand washing it in my bath tub. Any recommendations?
I know that I should just take it to a dry cleaner, but it really isn’t an option.
Thanks!
The satin is polyester
Dryel is a home dry-cleaning product that I've used for other things before. http://dryel.com/ It's worked. However, I've never done anything as large as a wedding gown. Part of the problem is that you have to put the item in a Dryel bag. A wedding dress wouldn't fit into the bag. You might contact Dryel and ask if they have any suggestions or larger bags. It's worth asking.
