Help with a SWORD ??
Hello there , i recently had an old sword ive had for many years looked at , i was told this sword was a " Ceremonial British naval sword from the 18 hundreds " would anyone have any information if i was to send them pics of this sword ? On the blade it has been engraved and i was also told it was gold thread used on tassle ball , if you could give me anymore information or at all interested i would be very grateful if you can reply , thank you for your time and i look forward to your reply , Jimmy

Like Randy said, there are lots of forgeries floating about so be prepared for disappointment.
However, you should do some research first. If you send me the photos, I'll dig up some websites for you to look at. If there are any marks, engravings make sure you get good closeups. Hallmarks, any details of the handle are extremely important as well.
