How to make: Bedroom wall fabric 'decoration' with curtains and rod?
I want to make the wall behind my bed look 'fancy' with some draped fabric using curtain rods or any suspension device. Any ideas? I have a small budget but want a classic look (the backdrop should be subtly romantic). Also, is this 'look' outdated? Referrals, please!
For something pretty cheap. The best way to do it is by using swag holders that you can buy from your local curtain shop.
I would get some swag holders and buy some sheer fabric, and drape it through the holders.
Get a white sheer fabric and sew a small hem all the way around, or do a roll hem. A white or ivory colour is very romantic.
See this design on the bed on the below website. It's in a check fabric, but you can use the same concept, with the white sheer fabric. They have done this design by using swag holders.

Here are some Types of swag holders you can get.
On the pigtail valance creater (press on "here") as it gives you instructions on how to drape through the holders.
There are heaps and heaps of different swag holders though.
This site has some good draping techniques if you do draping with a Rod

(p.79) shows a good way to do scarf valances (same things as above basically but differnet name). Shows you how to by using swag holders.

And if you want to go for more "traditional" swags, then it's best to go to your local independent curtain store as they can be more expensive.
