Cross stitch is very fiddly for a beginner, especially when you put it down and go back to it.I used to draw through the pattern with a pencil to show where I'd left off before putting the sewing down.Embroidery is something that I could never get to grips with as my stitches were poor.I enjoy doing tapestry work as it grows faster and it's easier to follow, especially with the printed background.Have a look in the sales for kits that are reduced for you to practise on.Hobbycraft is a good place to look.
