Village cats are under attack by coyotes that have followed the migratory geese in to town. So, my two outdoor cats have been quarantined to the house for the past three days and will be for at least a few weeks.
And they are not liking it. We have an antique wood front door and both cats are scratching and howling at the door and the 'sweep' to get out. Is there something I can place on the door to stop this without upsetting the cats more than they are now?
One of two things... depending upon how much you wish to "damage" your antique door...
1. cats hate sticky feeling on their paws. Get some packing tape, or duct tape, and "roll" it around so it becomes a double-sided tape. Then stick it to the areas where the cat scratches. They will avoid this area like the plague!
2. Buy one of those plastic carpet "runners" that has the plastic "spikes" on the underside. Then, cut to size to cover the floor area around your door with the spikes UP. They will avoid this area, too.
