How does the German word "taktisch" relate to "geschickt" and "schicken?"?
My Grandma often says I am taktisch when I do things with my hands. I finally found a definition that fits the context in German, not Yiddish as I thought it was. (My first searching for the word, not knowing the spelling but looking for similar pronunciation, turned up "tishtekh" --the Yidish word tablecloth! Not quite.) So, as I learned at this site - http://dictionary.reverso.net/german-english/geschickt - the word taktisch comes under the heading of geschickt, skillful, adroit, even clever. But it says "taktisch auch." My Grandma doesn't say auch, what does it mean without auch? A search turns up "tactical," which doesn't compute.
So, as someone who knows basically nothing about German grammar, can you tell me if taktisch is a form of geschickt, or perhaps a synonym? And, to confuse me further, geschickt seems to be a few of the conjugated tenses for schicken. To send? What does that have to do with skillful?
I don't think that there is any connection here, as apparently taktisch comes from the Greek word "taktike", which means neat and orderly and "geschickt" from "schicken", to send. Perhaps if we look at the English word "despatch", also meaning to send, and think of the expression "to do something with despatch" -- i.e. promptly and efficiently, it gives us a clue as to how the coincidence might have arisen.
