Can i start picking off my tattoo scab?

I got my tattoo last friday July 25th, it is tribal design on my upper bicep. It started scabbing the next day and some parts of it are falling off throughout the day or when im showering. Is it okay to start picking pieces off gthat are just hanging there?
is it okay if im using vaseline petroleum jelly on the tat?

No, never ever pick at a scab. That is a huge no-no. If you pick at a part that isn't coming off you can pull the ink with it and wreck the appearance of your tattoo. Use lotion and keep it moist so that it doesn't get super flaky. Never pick at tattoo scabs, it's never okay to pull those off.

-No, that saturates the tattoo instead of moisturizing to let it breath. A plain white unscented lotion such as Lucerin or Lubriderm. Very little and do not rub it in, just be gentle in apply a small amount to keep your tattoo soft. The soft prevents itch. Petrolym is not a good thing for tattoos. Didn't you get aftercare instructions from your artist?
