Can the Iddah period of 3 months in Islam be extended if there is any chance of possible reconciliation at a late stage?
My wife and I are currently going through a divorce and teh iddah period is over in a week. However we began speaking again and have discussed reconciliation but both of us are worried about getting straight back into something that had made us both so unhappy.
Therefore I wanted to know can this period eb extended so we can have further discussion?
I know we can remarry as only one Islamic divorce has been given however, is there a way this route can be avoided and the Iddah coudl be extended by even a few weeks or a month?
Thanks!
the wife, whose Iddah has expired. Her former husband can return her with a new marriage contract.
I think you should do it the legal way, so Allah can bless your marriage.
divorce is not easy, nor it is a game, this was to teach us a lesson to think before acting.
may Allah guide us all.
