Checked the oil on a dipstick, it was black, but when I cleaned it with a kitchen towel, and it had dried into the towel, it appears to be a clear brown colour looking like new oil. I'm not sure if this is a good sign or not but I just want to make sure.
That is normal , if you have driven your car for some time before changing the oil.At least you don't have sludge in there ! There has been a long debate on how often you really need to change the oil, however, chemists and physicists have somehow come up with every 5000 miles.I would stick to that rather than destroy my motor.Hope that is of help to you, Good luck
