How to deal with anal people? My brother-in-law is staying with us for a while. He is so anal its sickening.?
One he sits on the couch playing xbox 360 all day. He does clean up after himself because he is anal. However, He reshelved my kitchen cabinets, pulled all the linen off my guest bed (and requested i rewash them in his favorite detergetent). HUH? I suggested he stay in a hotel but he laughed it off. If i refill his drink if the cap on the cup is not put into the exact position he likes he makes a huge deal. This morning i went picked up his cup to get him a refill along with my own. When I returned with it instead of a thank you, I get "if your gonna do something do it right". My husband told him that when some does so for him he should just appreciate it. How can i get along with someone who wants everything their way? He's 42 years old and has never been married and yes my MIL does coddle him. I have two kids I don't need another but he is my husbands brother. Help! How can I make him see that he is not the king of this castle?
Well if you keep acting all subservient to him he is going to keep treating you like that. I would do the standard niceness with him, don't be rude, but from now on don't go out of your way to do special things for him, reserve that for your husband. Do not refill his cups anymore. Do not rewash something for him. Tell him to not "remodel" your home, because you are the one paying bills and you are the wife and he is the GUEST. Irregardless if he is the brother in law or not. Your husband married you, not his brother. He needs to respect you in your house...or he might as well go and get a hotel. And your husband better support you on it!
