medieval marketplace animals?
Alright, so I've read a lot of those stories basically placed back in the medieval period. Of course most have dragons, wizards, and the such in them.
My question is, can anyone lead me to a good site that would tell (Even better yet, have pictures of) a medieval marketplace. Especially pertaining to where they would be selling animals like pigs, horses, oxen etc?
I've found plenty of sites that show the basics like meats, bakery, etc, just none that show areas where they'd sell livestock. (Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree?)
I found a lot of references to the kind of image you are looking for, but not the images themselves. Try this site: http://www.eonimages.com/gallery.php?gid=98. Also http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:An_Brueghel_the_Elder-Great_Fish_market.jpg (and look for other pictures by the Brueghels).
You might find some more by Googling "images medieval livestock." If you have access to a library with good art books, ask the librarian.
Hope I've helped!
