How would you say these few lines in French?
I'm just making sure I got everything right. And please don't use a translator. Thanks!
I ask the maitre d' if there is a free table. In response, he states that there is one free table at the moment. We walk past the people to our table and are astonished at the beautiful table setting.
Oh, and if u are knowledgable at French culture, can u kinds tell me how the table setting goes. I know that the butter does not go on the bread (how would u say this) and that the napkin is on the plate, but what else?
Thanks!!!
Je demande au maître d'hôtel s'il y a une table (de) libre. Il me répond qu'il n'y en a qu'une pour le moment. Nous passons devant les gens pour aller à notre table et nous sommes surpris par le bel arrangement de la table.
It is correct to say : une table de libre even if une table libre is more grammatically correct.
Casanova answer is good but he forgot some accents.( maître and hôtel )
