True or false. Infants are appointed a guardian angel at their baptism in the Orthodox Church.?
As we know the Orthodox practice infant baptism. I have recently attended one and it was pointed out bt the priest that the infant is appointed a "guardian angel" at the moment of their baptism by God.
Can someone give me Scripture verses that support this?
Fireball. Can you cite a Scripture verse that supports this doctrine?
Born again Catholic. Thanks for the Scriptures. I do believe that Angels protect and care for us, but I was looking for a verse about one being appointed at the time of infant baptism.
There are many verses in Scripture which support the belief of angel-as-guardian, among them:
Ex.23:20-23 – “See, I am sending an angel before you, to guard you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared.”
Psalm 91:11-13 – “For God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways. With their hands they shall support you, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the asp and the viper, trample the lion and the dragon.”
Matt.18:10 - "See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.”
That these angels minister to the baptized is best illustrated in Heb. 1:14 – “Are they not all ministering spirits sent to serve, for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?”
There are more, and I will post the chapter/verse references if you wish, but these are most pertinent to what you're asking. Peace be with you.
