How do you know if there is a spirit of some kind in your home?

Well it began today... I recently got back from a trip from New H. and i went up stairs to take a shower, half way threw i noticed cold air in front of me, and just didnt make sence cause the shower was steaming hot and usaly it gets stuffy and hard to breath. But it was freazing i all of sounden got the chills like crazy maybe im just being paranoid but i cant be sure cause i also am now hearing footsteps and i just dont feel like somthing is right...Do you think its possible i connected bad spirits by buying a ring with a pentagram on it.? When i bought it in new h. i had no idea what it meant but when i went home one of my friends told me it was a devil worshiper thing so i was going to return it the next day. but in the morning i grabed about to take it back , but when i was in the car it was gone i think i might of dropped in between the seats or on the way there or somthing , cause its just not possible theres no such thing. so how do you knoww?

Firstly do not worry about the ring, it will not contain any form of demon or spirit and as others have said does not stand for devil worship. If I remember rightly it has something to do with the elements - earth, fire, air and water. Each of the points is allocated one of the elements with the fifth point being spirit. This symbol is usually a very positive one and I believe often used in protection rituals, although as I am not well up on Wicca I would not swear to that but I'm sure others would be able to enlighten you in that area.
Again as others have said, white sage is excellent for the situation that you have now found yourself to be on. Being careful not to burn yourself get a smudge wand or white sage leaves, light them so that they smoulder and smoke, then go around each and every room of your home wafting the smoke throughout. White sage is protecting, cleansing, healing and soothing. The smell to those that have not used it before is somewhat pungent, but try it and let it help restore the peaceful energy of your home.
