How can I convince my mom to let me redecorate a little?

Okay. My mom LOVES to save money and buy cheap or just not spend at all. My grandma moved out of her house and into a retirement home so my dad has a bunch of her old couch pillows, antique cabinets and alot of older outdated stuff. That I don't mind, but what I do mind is that because of that our house is SO disorganized when it comes to color and theme that it's just plain annoying.

My mother won't even let me spend money on a few updated pillows and such. I'd just like to add a few things to pull the colors together other than having it be all over the place like it is now.

How can I convince her to let me do this? She's so stubborn it's ridiculous!

I take it you are in school? Do you have to take any Home Ec courses (cooking, sewing..) If you do, you could ask the teacher if you could make pillow cases in stead of the 'planned' project (I got to make my grade nine grad dress.. (ok, that was a bizillion years ago.. but.. still...)). Anyway, you could get your mom to buy the fabric for the 'school project' and voila! You have new pillows!!!
