Laptop screen too dark to see?

Six hours ago, my laptop was working fine. I went to sleep, and when I booted it this morning, the screen was too dark to see! I can just barely see the outline of the user profiles, but it's too dark to operate. I tried raising the brightness, but if there was a difference it wasn't noticeable. I'm assuming that the backlight came loose or something, but I'd like a few opinions before removing the bezel.

If something does need to be replaced, where can I buy these sorts of parts? I can't imagine Best Buy or RadioShack stocking them, but I need this machine operational today.
I've turned it off and on several times. It was the first thing I did, before realizing that the screen was merely dark.

You probably need a new inverter. You can buy this on eBay, or other online retailers.
