Cartilage piercing infection?
Okay, I pierced my cartilage about 4 months ago (I know not the brightest idea but i did it) well after I did it there was no infection it didn't even hurt which I was suspicious of but that's besides the point. It never gave me any trouble what so ever I waited about a month and half till i changed it i stuck with 18g. Now the problems happened when I switched from a 16g back to an 18g (I didn't know it was 16g it looked exactly the same as the other just a tad bigger) and it started to bother me. So yesterday morning I looked at it and there is a big lump on both sides of my ear. It is has puss and blood coming out when I put peroxide on it and bleeds a little. I have bactrian (I do believe its spelt like that) ointment. I have only been using this for 2 days now. I am leaving the ear ring in (I had read that if you leave it in it will help drain it out) but i don't have a back on it so there is no pressure on it. What else should I do?
It sounds like it's very irritated from you changing the jewellery so much, and from the peroxide! Why on earth are you using that?! Stick to sea salt soaks only.
Don't move or change the jewellery, cartilage piercings can take up to a year to heal fully so you're doing yourself no favours by irritating it so much in these early stages. The lumps you describe are hypertrophic scarring which is caused by irritation, they will go away but just have some proper jewellery put in there by a professional (something like a 1mm titanium barbell or labret stud) and leave it well alone.
Do not twist or move the jewellery, only use sea salt soaks and keep hair and cosmetics away from it.
