Roman Carved
I found a stone pipe in Germany with a mans face carved on it where would I go to find out more about it.?

I found it near Leiderbach Germany the old Roman road goes through there. the mans face has a beard, big eyes, wavey hair on the sides, he is also wearing a headdress.

More than likely, it is a Meershaum Pipe, carved of hard calcite called Meershaum, from Turkey. As it is smoked, the heat browns the calcite starting from any points like the tip of the beard, the sharp top of hte bowl, and the end of the stem.

They have been imported for Centuries. I have owned many, as did my father, having both served in Germany in the USAF.
