My friend got married about 8 months ago and I sat and embroidered her a beautiful wedding sampler and got it framed for her big day. (Granted, yes, I didn't have to). I went to her house on Saturday and she said, "Come and see what my actor friend got me for my wedding present". She pointed to a quilt cover set and I said, "Oh, great". She opened her wardrobe and got out some shoes and I saw my embroidery present shoved right at the back of it, behind a mountain of shoes. She gives a lot of appreciation to her so-called actor friends rather than me, who has stuck by her through thick and thin.
Answer: A lack of self esteem, where the hope is that the lustre of fame with another will rub off onto your friend.
Assume that you friend doesn't put the same value on the friendship as do you, and re-evaluate just where you stand there, and how you feel about this relationship.
