What do you think of this YouTube argument?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_anj29saOYQ
"actually... im a huge fan of some great samplers.. just blaze, and dj egadz (check him out if u dont know him) are my favs. and their great. i aint saying sampling sucks ass.. im just saying i wont ever do that. because i giv respect to beats from scratch. just my opinion. i see sampling the way u say my style beats. i think its all pretty similar and limted. sure the tracks are different. but they all have that same feel to them.. i just aint with sampling."
RHH2: Are there many producers on Nicolay and EL-P's level when it comes to non sampled beats?
I didn't mean an actual "argument"...Just the point of view, That's why I quoted part of it in the Q >_<.
I'm kinda like the person in the quote. I *LOVE* the sound of sampled beats... I mean, it's just that "classic/standard" sound I guess, but I really don't wanna sample. I don't know how to play any instruments or know any music theory, so samplin *WOULD* be alot easier for me, but I like the challenge that composing gives me... now... that's not to say my sh*ts is on point, cuz most of em well... they aint too good lol, but I still have that satisfaction of knowin that *I* made the beat all on my own.
As for this argument of "it's not what you sample, but how you sample it"-- uhhhh NO, what you sample goes alot further than people like to make it seem... I mean seriously, how many times has Bob James- "Nautilus" been sampled??? It's an infinite amount of songs out there to be sampled and yet, alot of these songs are sampled 2-3 times... that's gotta be more than a coincidence. Not knockin, just sayin.
RHH2: The only one that comes to mind is Organized Noize, but they did a bit more samplin then i give them credit for
EDIT: did you ever post your beats on here, or are we still waitin on that??? i been to busy lately to keep up
