What type of reeds are the best?
I heard that Fibracell and Glotin are good, but they are pretty expensive. I would like a good quality reed that doesn't have a short life. I play Bass Clarinet/Tenor Sax.
When I played Clarinet, Alto, tenor, and bari sax I always used a 3.5 VanDoren. Worked good for me. Another thing is don't be afraid to try the cheap and expensive. The cheap may be good for a week or two, but if the expensive holds up longer that 2-3 weeks of solid playing.... A good investment in my book. Also if you keep ripping reeds up go to a stronger size. You may have to blow a little harder, but they last longer.
