I was given a turtle lastnight by a friend...
I noticed underneath it's shell, it has a soft area.
The top of the shell appears to be fine, it is still very active, and it is eating fish/shrimp meal quite well. (Bought from the PetStore)
The person that gave it to me said it has always eaten well, but the UV light which the they had had blown a few months ago (and never been replaced)
Since putting the turtle in its new home, it has a large tank and is sharing with another Long Neck Turtle.
I have a good setup, with a UV light, turtle dock, and good filtration...
Is it possible the new turtle has Metabolic Bone Disease or Shell Rot?
Will it get better over time, now that there is a UV light, or is there special treatment I should be giving it to cure it?
