Candle grease removal?
I have lots of melted candle wax on my tablecloths and have removed most by putting them into the fridge and peeling off the excess. However, I do not know how to get the residue out of the fabric that has soaked into each thread of the cloth. Does anyone know what to do next? Thanks
So easily removed. Candlewax melts at about 60 Celsius, so all you need is a warm but not too hot iron and a few sheets of newspaper, although many prefer to use brown paper. Even a hot kettle will work on candlewax, but the electric iron is obviously more convenient.
Place the paper below the cloth, and lay some more paper on top of the wax mark and leave the iron in contact for a few minutes.
If you move the iron around it will warm the cloth without damaging it, but at the temperature that melts wax, there is not too much chance of that, unless it is wool!
This is far quicker than the refrigerator treatment, and can readily be done when the table is cleared and just before removing the cloth.
