What should go in a linen closet?
What all should go into the linen closet (besides towels)? I'm wanting my house to be really organized...so I'm in need of some help!
Actually...its a 920 square foot apartment...and the linen closet is in the bathroom (which is upstairs).
I would KILL for a linen closet!
Since yours is in the bathroom, towels (obviously), and anything else you'd regularly use in the bathroom but wouldn't want to take up space with in the vanity cabinet, or wouldn't want to have visible.
Could include extra toiletries (soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. Also extra rolls of bath tissue, boxes of facial tissues), as well as bathroom cleaning supplies (keep those all together in a bucket or organizer, and stash on the floor of the closet).
A linen closet is usually meant for extra sets of sheets and things like that, and you could use yours that way, but consider the high humidity in your bathroom. You may not want to expose your sheets to high levels of humidity because odors and bacteria thrive in any moist, warm environment. Might be best to fold those neatly and store them in another closet, or even in a drawer or under-bed storage box.
What I would NOT keep in that closet are clothing items. For the same reason as above ... heat and humidity, bacteria, odor. I also would not store perfumes, makeup, and the like, because changes in temperature can cause perfume to go nasty and makeup to "spoil" ... (especially cream and liquid makeup) ... and anything powder-based, such as eyeshadow or pressed powder, will absorb moisture and get "cakey."
So, given the location of your linen closet, I think you should just make the most of it for storing not-so-pretty items out of sight.
