Why do many Americans like to watch very old movies?

i just notice that americans are really into old movies, like those way back in the 50s.. girls still cry rewatching them. i, a non-american, find that pretty weird.

so isn't watching old classic movies considered old fashioned? i mean the way i see it, the US is filled with pop culture trends - its so strange many people still watch very old, romantic movies.

Because many of those movies are iconic. A lot of them were better written, directed and produced than many films made in the present day. They were innovative and in many ways, they defined what good a movie is supposed to be.

Some of my favorite science fiction and horror films came out of the 1940s & 1950s.

Not to mention all of the legendary actors and actresses who populated them. These were men and women who had real talent and a lot of training - not just a bunch of pretty kids like in many of the films produced now a days.

Anyway, if something is good you don't through it away just because it's "old".
