I have a stack (approx. 20) of beautiful handkerchiefs that belonged to my husband's grandmother. Right now, they're just sitting in a closet; I'd like to do something creative with them to display their hand stitched detail and/or beautiful edgings. Does anyone have any ideas of something they've done/seen? Thanks for brainstorming!
I have seen an adorable window valance made with vintage hankies....the corners of the hankies pointed down, across the window, so it made a "choppy" border--very cute! Either sew them or clip them together with clothespins! You can also frame them.
My mother had terrible allergy problems, and the dr. thought that wiping her eyes and nose with kleenex might be adding to the problem--so all her sewing club friends did a "hanky shower" for her via US Mail--she received dozens of vintage hankies from her friends! It was so nice!
