B. a hanging wall is half of a fault that lies below in a reverse fault.
C. a hanging wall is the same as a footwall
D. a hanging wall occurs when the fault is at an angle.
A is true (I always like to think that when something "hangs", it "normally" goes down, hence the hanging wall in a normal fault goes down, and in a reverse fault the opposite happens).
B is false, the hanging wall hangs above the footwall (it's derived from an old mining term, the hanging wall was used to hang lamps on, so it must be above the footwall, which you put your feet on).
C is false, see above.
D is true.
